Food Security Framework | Key Population Groups
- Resource poor smallholder farmers with little or no income and producing only four to six month?s food by themselves and depending on the markets to meet the remaining needs are considered vulnerable from year to year. These people are found in all the livelihood zones throughout the country, constituting 30 to 50 percent of the population.
- Though difficult to isolate, the HIV/AIDS-affected population.
- The urban poor seem to be a forgotten group as they are considered economic migrants from rural areas. Even in normal years these people?s lives are a daily struggle as they do not have good jobs and lack the income to meet a decent minimum living standard.
