Chemonics maintains 20 national and three regional field offices (Ouagadougou, Nairobi, and Pretoria) in sub-Saharan Africa, Central America, Haiti, and Afghanistan. A core team of full-time professionals in the Washington, DC office provides support to the field staff in livelihoods analysis, food security and vulnerability analysis, markets and trade analysis, early warning, contingency and response planning, agricultural economics, decision support, computer systems, communications, web site design and management, and project management. FEWS NET activities implemented by Chemonics International, Inc. are carried out in association with the Food Economy Group, Intana, Michigan State University and WebFirst.
In addition, USGS employs Regional Scientists for Central America, East Africa, West Africa, and southern Africa, who directly support FEWS NET activities and information products, as well as strengthen the technical capacity of regional and national institutions.
