Qualified professional staff. FEWS NET has a diverse mix of national and international staff with extensive early warning, food security and local knowledge. As a rule, our highly qualified field staff are nationals of the countries where we work. This provides FEWS NET with unparalleled knowledge and insight in each country, and contributes to building national capacity for food security analysis and early warning.

Field-based operations. Leading from the field allows FEWS NET to utilize flexible, country-specific approaches to the diverse conditions found in the 25 countries covered by the activity.

Networking and coordination. FEWS NET uses networking and coordination as a means to effectively use its resources and those of its partners in order to build consensus on responses to emerging or threatening crises and disasters.
